WHAT HAPPENED TO LL COOL J?

LL Cool J

So I saw LL Cool J on Ellen's show yesterday and suddenly he has a personality???
I mean he is a god, so gorgeous but I've seen him interviewed a million times and he barely utters a word. On Ellen he was joking, sarcastic, laughing, his shyness all but disappeared. Is it cos he's an actor now on NCIS Los Angeles? Did being on TV suddenly give him a personality? It's so weird cos normally he just sits around and looks pretty but now he actually speaks too.
