THE JINX OF THE JOKER?
July 20th 2008 03:15
With the sudden death of Heath Ledger and the release of his last movie where he plays the Joker, a jinx or negative legacy is starting to unravel. In 1966 Cesar Romero portrayed the Joker, in 2005 Mark Hamill was the voice of the Joker in an animated Batman series, and in 1989 Jack Nicholson played the Joker in Batman the movie and all of these actors reported feeling under duress and depressed, even overwhelmed after playing the psychopathic serial killer.
When Heath Ledger spoke to Jack Nicholson shortly before his death and told Nicholson he was feeling out of sorts Nicholson said "I warned you."
So does the Joker have a jinx attached to him leaving all the actors who play him mentally and emotionally disturbed, or are they all really great actors who know how to encompass a character?
