UPDATE: Mike left a comment on this post concerned for the welfare of Morgan. A report from Clay McFerrin editor of the local Sun Sentinal who was on the scene said "They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle." "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."

McFerrin said bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor.
When one person tried to snap a photo with a cell phone camera, Freeman joked, "no freebies, no freebies," McFerrin said.
Morgan is said to be in good spirits and expected to recover.

Actor and Academy award winner Morgan Freeman was rushed to hospital Monday in a serious condition after a car accident. Freeman 71, was driving in Mississippi when his car flipped several times. He was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he is recovering. His rep says the actor "has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits. He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage," said Donna Lee, Freemans publicist. "He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery." What a week for celebrities and driving!

I hope Morgan gets well soon, for it will be too soon to ... God forbit it ... lose a man graced by God to play God.
