Lauren Bacall accepting her honorary Oscar
Legendary actress Lauren Bacall was presented with an honorary Oscar during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 2009 Governors Awards this weekend. Although Bacall has made more than 30 movies she has never won an Academy award.
Lauren Bacall has made some wonderful movies and starred with some of the biggest stars in movie history such as Designing Woman with Gregory Peck, How to Marry a Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable and Key Largo with then hubby Humphrey Bogart.
Bacall said on receiving the honorary Oscar "The thought when I get home that I'm going to have a two-legged man in my room is so exciting." (She means the gold statue.)
As well as being a great actress, Lauren Bacall is also known for her acid tongue and quick wit and at 85 years of age she shows no signs of slowing down.
