December 5th 2009 02:56
British actor Rupert Everett who is also openly gay has advised other gay Hollywood actors to stay in the closet. "It's not that advisable to be honest. It's not very easy," he told UK's Guardian. "And, honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out."
Rupert admits being open about his sexuality has brought him personal happiness but not professional equivalent. I think, all in all, I'm probably much happier than they are," he said. "I may not be as rich or successful, but at least I'm vaguely free to be myself." 'They" being the many closeted gay actors in Hollywood. To be fair though, Rupert's two most famous movies My Best Friend's Wedding and The Next Best Thing he did play gay characters, and may have accidentally typecast himself. Not to mention he has not aged so well, he ain't no Clooney
