Couples Retreat movie poster before and after

The movie Couples Retreat starring Vince Vaughn is ready for release in the UK and as part of the public relations to sell the movie Universal studio executives decided to revamp the movie's poster. No worries right? Wrong?

They revamped it by completely removing the black couple who appear in the movie. The African American actors Faizon Love and Kali Hawk who star in the movie had their images and names wiped from the poster.
As you can imagine there have been a flood of complaints and studio has decided to use the original poster. The studio say they were trying to slimline the poster but couldn't they just cut down the pixels as opposed to wipe out a whole couple? In 2009 you wonder exactly what those studio bosses talk about when they brainstorm in the boardroom, the word racism has not been mentioned but it's a close call between racism and braindead.
