July 20th 2008 23:04
Movie fans have stayed up all night to catch a screening of The Dark Knight. In it's first weekend the Dark Knight has grossed $155 million, selling 13% of the film's projected weekend expectations.
The sequel to the Batman movie sold 15 tickets per second and blitzed "Spider-man 3" the previous record holder.
There is no doubt that Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker teamed with his sudden death has made people flock to the cinemas. Hollywood's elite are calling for Heath to be awarded a posthumous Oscar.
